Identifying a marketable color palette through trend analysis is just the
beginning to actually finding customers. The selection of color variation
is generally focused on a particular demographic.
If we consider the 2009 - 2011 color palette, the following graphic
examples reveal predicted color trends and how they might appear if
assembled as a product component.
Notice how a revision in the color palette creates a particular "feel" for
what the product is attempting to convey, even when applied to an
identical product.
In 2009, Goth goes main stream. What once was a sub culture of style and
attitude, now becomes a way of expression. The image above on the left reveals
darker, subtle tones representing a more serious mood. The image on the right is
the color palette, utilizing 2009 trend colors.
The image below on the right, represents a cultural influence on color. We have
become a global community and what once was a North American influence on
color trends, has now become a "world" influence. Bright, expressive colors
results in an optimistic attitude. Propersity and good fortune is considered in the
palette.
